Youth and Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr Emily Tay completed postgraduate medical training in 2016 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) in 2026. She brings almost a decade of experience across public mental health services in Geelong, Colac, Werribee and Darwin.
Her experience spans youth and adult community mental health, inpatient and subacute care, perinatal mental health, and specialised eating disorder services. Alongside her private practice, Dr Tay works as a Youth Psychiatrist with Barwon Health, providing care to young people aged 12 to 26 years.
Dr Tay believes in treating the person before the illness, taking into account the biological, psychological, social and cultural factors that shape a person’s mental health and wellbeing. She works closely with patients, GPs and multidisciplinary care teams to develop individualised, recovery-focused care plans. Recognising that seeking psychiatric care can sometimes feel daunting, Dr Tay places compassion, respect and patient autonomy at the heart of her practice.
