Banksia Medical Centre has been serving our community in East Geelong, Newcomb, St Albans, Leopold, Drysdale and other nearby suburbs of Geelong for over 30 years. We provide holistic and comprehensive family health care via team of health care professionals.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations

We are able to administer vaccines and immunisations to our patients. While some vaccines are government funded, others will need to be pre-purchased from a pharmacy. Government funded/National Immunisation Program: All childhood and highschool immunisations, shingles, covid, pneumococcal, whooping cough (pregnancy), influenza (Chronic Health Conditions, Ages 6 months-5 years and over 65 y/o)

Private Vaccines onsite: Yellow Fever and Influenza All other vaccines require a script from your GP, to be purchased from your local pharmacy and brought in for our nurses to administer.

Additionally, we can assist with overseas records, catch up vaccines, travel vaccines and advice.

Health Assessments

Health Assessments

We provide bulk-billed health assessments with the aim to identify risks and prevent chronic health conditions early.

During this assessment, we will discuss your medications, general observations, physical, emotional, social and psychological health. Health Assessments aim to determine your risk of chronic disease and we will discuss healthy lifestyle changes and ways to prevent or delay your risk of disease.

45-49 year olds: A once off health assessment 75+ year olds: An annual health assessment Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander: No age limit. Eligible for an annual health assessment.

Health Assessments usually take between 45-60 minutes to complete. Following the completion your nominated doctor will join us to discuss any concerns you may have.

Care Plans

Care Plans

We provide chronic disease management plans (General Practitioner Management Plans & Team Care Arrangements) for eligible patients. This involves creating a plan for your care for the next year, setting goals and coordinating care of your specialist/allied health team.

Additionally, this plan may enable you to access Allied Health services such as Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Dietetics and others at a reduced fee for up to 5 visits per year.

Minor Surgeries

Minor Surgeries

We provide a range of minor surgical procedures performed by our experienced doctors and nurses in a safe and sterile environment. Services include skin lesion removal, cyst excisions, biopsies, and more. We ensure personalised care and follow-up support for your recovery.

Wound Care

Wound Care

Our experienced team of Nurses and GPs can assist you with wound care needs.

We can provide wound advice, complete wound care and create wound care plans for optimal wound healing.

Telehealth

Telehealth

We are able to offer telehealth consultations for any general medical appointments that don’t need a physical examination or for the patient to be physically present. Telehealth sessions are no longer available to be bulk billed.

Please note patients must have been seen in clinic within 12 months to receive a medicare rebate.

Any patients who have not been seen within 12 months will be required to pay the full fee out of pocket, with no medicare rebate.

24hr BP

24hr BP

We have an onsite 24 hour blood pressure monitoring device.

If referred by your GP this monitor is fitted at the clinic and can be taken home for continuous blood pressure monitoring over a 24 hour period.

24hr Holter

24hr Holter

We have a 24 hour cardiac monitoring device (Holter Monitor) onsite. If referred by your GP our nurses can fit you with the device, which you take home and wear for a 24 hour period.

Over the 24 hour period the device will record the electrical activity of your heart which can then be downloaded and interpreted by our remote cardiology team at Cloud Holter.

Iron Infusions

Iron Infusions

At Banksia Medical Centre we are proud to offer iron infusions to eligible patients. If your GP recommends that you have an Iron Infusion we can complete this procedure at both our Newcomb and Torquay Centre.

The infusion is performed by your GP and one of our nurses and usually takes approximately 1 hour. Please speak to your GP about this service.

Medical Termination of Pregnancy

Banksia Medical Centre offers medical termination of pregnancy for patients. This service is provided by two of our experienced doctors, Dr Natasha Nogueira and Dr Deepa Chinnachamy, ensuring compassionate care throughout the process.

Sleep Studies

Sleep Studies

Has anyone mentioned that you snore or hold your breath when sleeping? Do you feel tired during the day and have “nanny naps”? If so, you may benefit from a home sleep study to diagnose sleep apnoea.

This test is done in the comfort of your own home and comes with full instructions on how to apply the machine and electrodes.

If you qualify to have this test performed it will be a cost of $475 with a rebate of $375 so $100 out of pocket.
