We see a significant drop of flu cases caused by influenza due to physical distance, hand hygiene and unprecedented uptake of flu vaccination this year. However some of our patients still get flu like symptoms similar to a flu.
With all the COVID19 testings, we discovered many of the symptoms are caused by another much more milder form of virus called Adenovirus.
Adenovirus causes very similar symptoms to flu, COVID19 and many other viral illness. It is highly contagious and mainly causes mild flu like symptoms. There is no effective treatments except rest, increase fluid intake and with passage of time, our body will be able to fight it off. It is very important to make sure the persons who are suffering with these symptoms be isolated until all symptoms are cleared for 24-48 hours.
