Why We Offer Home Visit

We understand that attending a medical centre is not always possible. Home visit help support patients who:

  • Are acutely unwell and unable to travel safely
  • Have mobility limitations, disability, or frailty
  • Are receiving palliative or end-of-life care
  • Have short-term illness where leaving home would cause significant difficulty

Suitability for home visit is determined by the GP, based on safety, clinical need, and location.

Who Provides Home Visits

Home visits at Banksia Medical Centre are provided by Dr Natasha Nogueira, General Practitioner.
Dr Natasha provides both in-home consultations and in-clinic appointments as part of coordinated care. Her individual qualifications, experience, and clinical interests can be viewed on her dedicated profile page.

Availability:

  • Home visit: Tuesday and Thursday
  • In-clinic consultations: Wednesday and Friday

Areas We Cover

Home visits are available to eligible patients living in and around:

  • Torquay, Jan Juc, Bellbrae, Freshwater Creek, Moriac, Mount Duneed, Armstrong Creek

Availability may vary depending on clinical demand and scheduling. Reception can confirm whether your address is within range.

What Services Can Be Provided at Home

Home visit focus on general medical care that can be safely delivered outside the clinic, including:

  • General medical assessments and acute illness reviews
  • Chronic disease management
  • Health checks for all ages
  • Women’s health consultations
  • Children’s health assessments
  • Contraception advice and prescribing
  • Mental health care and plans
  • Palliative and supportive care

Where a procedure or investigation requires specialised equipment, the GP will arrange a follow-up appointment at Banksia Medical Centre or refer to appropriate services.

What Cannot Be Done at Home

Some services require clinic or hospital facilities, including:

  • Imaging and complex investigations
  • Procedures requiring specialised equipment or sterile environments
  • Urgent or time-critical conditions

If your condition is urgent or worsening, you may be directed to an urgent care clinic or emergency department. In an emergency, call 000.

Appointments, Referrals & Medicare

  • GP home visit use specific Medicare items for consultations away from the clinic
  • Out-of-pocket costs vary depending on consultation length and eligibility
  • Home visit are not bulk billed
  • Fees and Medicare rebates can be discussed with reception prior to booking

Please have your address, Medicare details, and a brief reason for the visit available when booking.

During Your Appointment

During a home visit, your GP may:

  • Conduct a medical assessment and examination as appropriate
  • Arrange prescriptions (including eScripts sent via SMS)
  • Organise referrals to specialists or allied health providers
  • Arrange follow-up care or in-clinic appointments if required

Your consultation notes are recorded in your medical file to ensure continuity of care with your regular GP and care team.

Cancellations & Changes

If you are unable to attend your scheduled home visit, please contact the clinic as soon as possible.

  • A minimum of 4 hours’ notice is required for cancellations
  • A cancellation fee may apply

Reception can advise on the current cancellation policy and fees.
